Public Involvement

The goals of public involvement are to effectively educate and engage the public on the Haile Gold Mine Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) to solicit meaningful public input during key phases of the SEIS process. The scoping phase of the SEIS was the first formal opportunity for the public to provide comments on the proposed project.

Scoping

The Public Scoping meeting for the proposed expansion of Haile Gold Mine was held on April 18, 2019 at Andrew Jackson High School, located at 6925 Kershaw Camden Highway, Kershaw, South Carolina.

The meeting format included an open house, drop in session with poster boards and information on the proposed expansion between 6-7pm. This allowed members of the public the opportunity to review the proposed expansion and ask any questions to help their understanding of what was proposed. From 7pm onwards the public were able to voice their comments which was recorded by a court reporter, these comments then used to shape the analysis of the Proposed Project. No responses were given on the night to the public comments.
