Project Summary

Haile Gold Mine, Inc., a subsidiary of OceanaGold Corporation, submitted a proposal to USACE, Charleston District to expand an existing and operating gold mine (Haile Gold Mine) in the vicinity of Kershaw, South Carolina. Based on available information, USACE determined the construction and operation of the proposed change to the development of the Haile Gold Mine has the potential to significantly affect the quality of the human environment and warranted preparation of a supplement to the EIS completed for this project. USACE served as the lead federal agency for the SEIS.
